FSB TECHNOLOGY

Post by RIT » Wed Jun 27, 2018 2:27 pm

Received this email from FSB technology . (Bruce Betting, Mintbet, Toals etc)

I am writing in regard to the online accounts that you have with websites that operate under the FSB Technology license.

As license holders, FSB Technology are obliged by the UK Gambling Commission to speak with customers that reach a certain deposit/withdrawal threshold.

In order to complete your file, we kindly ask you to send us copies of your ID (passport/ driving licence) and of your bank cards ending 2524, 610 and 2808. We only need to see the first and last four digits of your 16-digit card number.

As your total deposits across all websites that operate under the FSB license are in excess of €10k, we will also require sight of a 'Statement of Earnings' (bank statement/wage-slip) to support your level of financial activity across these websites.

In case we don’t hear from you in the next 48 hours, your account may be suspended.

Do I have to provide them with this statement of earnings? Surely it is none of their business ?

I don`t have any money in there, just one open bet on Senegal to win the World Cup , so extremely unlikely but I would definitely want to use the accounts in future for in play snooker betting.

Interesting, I've never seen one of these requests before across the FSB platform/white licensing of multiple bookies by the Gambling Commission.

If you are a losing customer this is a perfectly reasonable request and socially responsible as FSB are making sure your income can cover losses, with the exception that it should probably have happened earlier. If you are a winning customer (you don't say), you need to think about the following.

I quote, "As license holders, FSB Technology are obliged by the UK Gambling Commission to speak with customers that reach a certain deposit/withdrawal threshold." To my knowledge, which maybe wrong, in the case of remote sports betting as opposed to remote casinos there are no legal (money laundering, etc) or GC guidelines that mention a specific figure like 10K to trigger an investigation of income source and affordability, so this statement is likely wrong?

My understanding is that the GC is not prescriptive about when a licensee has to ask for ID verification or what an operator needs to ask for during the process. They do say that what is requested should be reasonable in the context of what is known about the customer, so you have every right to go back and ask why they've asked now, because their statement is likely untrue. You could also ask why, suddenly after allowing such high deposits and I assume related high turnover, why they have chosen to make such personally intrusive requests now rather than earlier. Certainly, if FSB had concerns about your identity and your source of wealth it should have blocked your betting immediately you made your latest deposit, not at some random moment.

Based on your post and nothing else (we don't have FSB's side of the story) if all deposits and any winnings have come from and been returned to the same source it would seem unreasonable to demand the provision of such intrusive personal information unless FSB has genuine concerns that you may display signs of problem gambling or that they have evidence, which they are willing to share, that you are involved in crime.

So, in conclusion my understanding is that there are no legal reasons or GC guidelines that state you have to provide this intrusive personal information, unless FSB can provide good evidence, which they have not yet provided to do so.

I hope these observations help?

I am not sure if I am a winning customer over all their sites. the only one I can say for certain I was is Blacktype and they restricted me to £9 bets so I got them to close the account.

I stopped using all their sites a couple of weeks ago and now I get this through but it may be just a coincidence as in the Profit Maximiser group I am a member of , 2 or 3 people there are saying they have the same thing.

OK.

Two things:

1. When you asked for your BlackType account to be closed that may have got listed as a self-exclusion? If it did and they've allowed you to continue gambling since on other sites on their platform; that's appalling.
2. More likely is what you've mentioned about 'Profit Maximiser'.

If you wish to use the accounts again as you mentioned I would send them the standard stuff, i.e. what they've asked for, but not the bank statement. If they then refuse to re-open the account/s tell them that the 10K rule is nonsense, which it is and submit a subject access request, asking for all your betting history across all your accounts and how your data has been processed for the BlackType restrictions and to make a decision to ask for this personal detail now - on the latter do not accept the 10K reason.

The other option is not to bother, because it's likely they may get the different bookies to restrict your accounts any way for not being a 'good boy'. You also need to know that it's highly likely one or more of the bookies will have entered details of your e-device and internet provider/IP address into the Iovation database, so other companies will be able to see what's been put there and may take similar action dependent on your betting history.

I sent them copies of my ID , cards and bank statement with the transactions obscured, just received this reply:

Thank you for sending us your documents, your ID and bank cards have been approved and verified.

However, the statement that you have provided does not quite meet our requirements. As discussed, we are requesting this document to satisfy UKGC requirements that customers are depositing within their means and that their funds are obtained from legitimate sources. As you have obscured the details of every transaction on your statement, we are unable to satisfy the latter point.

I would therefore be grateful if you could provide an alternative document, or a slightly unedited version of the one you have provided.

By the way, they haven`t suspended/closed the accounts yet but are threatening to suspend them if I don`t send it in.

I haven`t replied to that latest reply from them above so expecting them to be ringing me back or emailing me again sometime next week.

Just glad I have no money in there.

I have only used one card on each account, all funds back to the same source, have done nothing wrong whatsoever , so to demand wage slips or bank statements with all my transactions just to place a bet is totally out of order.

This is a new low in the bookmaking industry for my own personal experience , apart from the bookies that went bust and stole my money of course.

I can now categorically tell you that they did not apply this 10K rule when a person lost much, much more with some of the bookmakers working under their licence. I couldn't say earlier becuase these things need checking out. This person lost way above this without any checks on income whatsoever.

I queried that on the phone with him and he admitted the Gambling Commission do not stipulate that limit, it is their own limit they have set themselves and as I have now deposited 21k , well over the 10k limit, they are contacting me.

21k deposits over several sites over several years is not a lot of money at all especially when Blacktype restricted me to peanuts for winning.

So do I have any chance of keeping these accounts open at all ? If so, what is my next step ?

I must have accounts with at least 200 bookmakers and this is the worst thing I have ever experienced, I have only ever heard of it on a forum before, from 188bet but I have had an account with them for over 10 years and they have never asked me.

I wouldn`t be bothered at all if I didn`t want to use the accounts in the future, I would just tell them where to go.

We've covered this ground already, but what the guy told you on the phone seems to be untrue, they do not impose a 10K limit on all customers - end off.
Re, where next? Not good news I'm afraid. The law in the UK at present is that there is no 'right to bet' legally, so companies can trade with who they wish and do this ruthlessly in order to only trade with those they think will lose over a certain percent of their gambling turnover. We are constantly talking to the GC about this and have met with the government's DCMS who are i/c changing the legislation. Neither organisation is displaying signs in public of doing anything. I'm sure they understand how unfair everything is, but it's far less work to do nothing and of course there's the tax consideration.

I'm sorry, but if they don't want to trade with you, they probably won't, even if you provide the documents they're asking for. Of course, this is your choice, but it is beholden on me to point out that you may reveal more and more personal information and they may still tell you to get lost, purely because they can.

The other constructive thing you can do is write to the Gambling Commission telling them about your experience and I will send you an enclosure supporting your letter that the 10K claim is likely made up due to other customer evidence we hold. I leave it with you, but these companies have to be reported to the GC if anything is ever going to change.

Just going off topic a bit here, this is the state of the industry now, I just tried to place an in play snooker bet on my LEOVEGAS account opened about 3 weeks ago and find I am limited to winning £20.

This is my full betting history on the account, how the gambling commission allows this to carry on is beyond belief, the industry is a complete joke now:
