Whilst I'm never keen to recommend legal action to anyone I have to say that I and another J4P original member have come to the conclusion that the ICO, perhaps influenced by the GC, are not going to do anything on this topic anytime soon.
I'm not legally qualified, so what follows should not be taken as legal advice, but people in Ireland have already taken gambling companies to court over privacy disputes. My understanding is that these cases were settled out of court, probably because the companies knew they would lose. See: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/padd ... -z7wfqn6g0
I can try to find more out about these cases, but it will be difficult due to the NDAs.
There are some privacy issues where the law is definitely being breached, re data deletion my view is not as strong, but I think a good privacy lawyer would know. What I can do is provide a specialist privacy lawyer with all relevant information relating to gambling codes and conditions and how these interact with privacy law. I think all that is needed to start with is an opinion on a way forward (that maybe no), as opposed to pricing up actual legal action.
J4P will certainly promote a 'Just Giving' page that you setup, so long as we know what the exact contract is with JG and who will handle the money. We can't do this ourselves, because we don't accept money from any source, which may sound crazy, but it means will are truly independent.
I hope this helps?
