General Introduction

Post by scumbags » Fri Jan 22, 2016 11:45 am

For a period of over 40 years I have been betting on horses Until recent times I had virtually no complaints about bookmakers in general as they were on the whole prepared to take reasonable bets It was in fact possible with hard work and knowledge to win money and although bookmakers eventually closed accounts it took on average a period of one year before they resorted to this course of action Nowadays it is almost impossible for anyone save the brain dead and perennial losers to be able to bet at all Bookmakers refuse to maintain the accounts of anyone who wins money and will restrict to joke level bets all those who even show the slightest capability of winning money Bookmakers now operate a LOSERS ONLY ALLOWED policy Not only is this an obscenity in itself, it means that the off course bookmaking industry is now no more than a collection of assorted thieves Government and regulators don't care, the very idea of fairness, standards, integrity and a level playing field for all is anathema to them Bookmakers control their grubby activities by buying up the silence of those who are in a position to expose this state of affairs Something has to change and I hope that thousands of contributions on this site will draw the attention of M Ps The Press and other parties to what is going on

ive been betting on horses for over 30yrs and I too did not have any real complaints till the last 5years..i had a account closed by LADCROOKS..after a winning month? I was restricted to £7 bets etc..I just forgot about it and shrugged my shoulders until this campaign from mick and others..ive not had a account closed since but have had restrictions on amounts placed especially on one that is a "so called gamble" punters are getting a raw deal from the big bookies and we need to highlight this more, my hope is that as more of us get together our voice might shine more of a light on too the bad bookies.

I have been betting on horses since my late teens and have found that it has become increasingly difficult to place bets and I now find myself having to pay people to put my bets on for me! All my online and telephone accounts have now long gone and bookmakers are making life difficult for punters who do win money from them because of the so called verification information that they request. This as we know is a delaying tactic from the bookmaker. I have had instances were bookmakers have taken up to six weeks to pay me even when they have had all the verification information sent to them. They never seem to ask for this when you open up an account with them.It has got to such a shambolic state that it wouldn't surprise me in years to come when they start requesting a DNA sample! Bookmakers only want to deal with losing punters full stop. Laying horses is of very little interest to them these days as it is no longer the sport that used to dominate betting in the shops years ago. Anyone who shows that they are capable of winning on horses is either closed down or heavily restricted and trying to get bet on in a shop is impossible as my photo is up in all bookmaker shops as a phone to lay customer which effectively means the shop manager will ring head office and come back to me and say you can have a fiver on that at the price and the rest at SP. Total waste of time. They appear to be far more interested in the fixed odds betting terminals. They will welcome with open arms people entering their shops who want to play those damn machines. Even more so with the online casinos that every major bookmaker has these days. All this business about responsible gambling. Do me a favour. Shop managers are on a bonus scheme to encourage punters to play the machines to increase profits and playing those machines is and easy way to do this. It is a very sad state of affairs as individuals get sucked in to playing the machines and will do their brains time after time.

Thanks for posting. You are so right. Punters need to get together and show the regulators and everyone else that we mean business. Punters should be treated like any other consumers and not like criminals if they obtain a bargain price (not their fault) or win now and again. Gambling with no chance of winning is not gambling and the UK Gambling Commission is letting this happen. Hope to see you regularly on here!

The business of things getting much worse over the last five years seems a common theme all over the place. It will continue to get worse if we don't challenge restrictions (I know many are trying, but we need to keep going) and invasions of privacy online. Maybe one of our first campaigns could be information/education on protecting identity online? Thanks for posting.

Hi to all i have just realized how much posting i have done on this forum already.Probably of little use to any but in a perverse way its therapeutic as we share our anger and frustrations.I have the same experience as many when first starting to use on line Bookmakers several years ago i read the occasional post on a forum from someone complaining about punitive restrictions but Tbh took little notice until it started happening to myself. So i then switched the majority of my business to BF and received the PC.In neither case where the winnings substantial the BF PC can be acquired via low 5 fig profit.

I do attempt to self case things but can see little justification for the way that increasing numbers of us are now being treated.I am no super punter just a guy who puts a lot of effort into form reading and i am fed with being treated like a Villain for daring to turn a profit. My hopes now rest here if the owners of this forum can bring us all together and enable us to work collectively then i feel we could encourage some much needed change. This is the bottom line and probably our best and last chance.

Other than what is on this forum i have no knowledge of Jimmy Justice but already like what he has to say.If enough of us become active supporters i believe we can do this.
